With over 30 years of clinical experience across New Zealand, the UK, and Australia, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people recover from life’s most challenging physical setbacks—especially those related to scarring and swelling. Today, I specialise in lymphoedema and scar management from my private Brisbane-based clinic, offering evidence-based therapies with a truly personal touch.

My Journey

I began my career studying Occupational Therapy at the Central Institute of Technology in New Zealand, which led to roles in hospitals across the country and later in London. After returning home, I worked at a major burns and trauma hospital, where my deep interest in scar management began.

Not one to shy away from new challenges, I relocated to Sydney to become a Clinical Advisor and Educator, specialising in compression garment therapy for burns, scarring, and lymphoedema. This role expanded my clinical knowledge and allowed me to help shape how these treatments are used across Australia.

Twenty years ago, I made Brisbane my home. Since then, I’ve worked across community care with Blue Care, clinical leadership at Haddenham Healthcare, and now, I’m proud to run my own private practice—Occupational Therapy With Helen.

My mission? To help clients manage the effects of lymphoedema, chronic oedema, and scarring, so they can feel comfortable, capable, and confident in their daily lives.
